Location

A good workshop experience should be a retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, so location is very important. Bar Harbor and the Acadia region are perfect for a workshop, and the College of the Atlantic offers an amazing venue on the coast of Frenchman Bay, right in the middle of all that Acadia and Bar Harbor have to offer.  The facilities are world-class, the natural environment is inspiring and energizing, and there’s plenty to do when we’re not workshopping and talking about writing.

COA is just a short walk from the shopping, dining and sights of downtown Bar Harbor. In addition, the free Island Explorer buses stop regularly on campus, providing car-free access to Acadia National Park and the more distant corners of Mount Desert Island. It is 15-minute drive from the Bar Harbor-Hancock County Airport, and approximately a one-hour drive from Bangor International Airport.
